Introducing a segment by chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross on GMA today, weekend co-anchor Bill Weir set the tone.
BILL WEIR: We turn now to the sticky prospect of shutting down the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Ross’s segment itself was a solid one. It included a healthy dose of skepticism about the Saudi government’s claim to be able to “rehab” terrorists, turning them into model citizens. Ross pointed to the case I discussed here of Said Ali al-Shihri who, released from Gitmo supposedly to go work for the family furniture business, is now an al Qaeda leader in Yemen.
But does anyone recall ABC running such a feature before, when Pres. Bush was under fire from Dems for supposedly trampling the rights of the Gitmo detainees? Neither do I.
