Today, the economy was the focus. Pres. Obama is proposing massive government spending. And . . . what a coincidence! The network whose Sunday talk show host shed tears of joy on inauguration day just happens to declare that the only way consumer confidence can be restored is by “massive government help.”
Weekend co-anchor Kate Snow narrated the GMA segment, part of a new series entitled “What’s The Fix?” that examines “what the Obama administration can do” to fix various problems. The particular problem today was the lack of consumer confidence. Snow illustrated the problem with the story of a relatively well-to-do family that is still sitting in its wallet.
Then came ABC’s proposed fix. Reducing prices was discarded as only a short-term solution. The ultimate fix required? You guessed it.
KATE SNOW: So, what’s the fix? In the short term, businesses are slashing prices to keep consumers spending at all. But in the long term, consumer confidence has to rebound, which won’t happen without massive government help.
Got that? There’s no debating it. Those of you who think that confidence is undermined by massive government spending and the abandonment of free-market economics that accompanies it are simply wrong. Deal with it. Welcome to the Age of Obama–underwritten in part by ABC!
Anchoress: “It’s okay: Only massive government will save us. Give Washington all your power, and you’ll be free. And safe. Oh, yes, indeed. The press is doing it’s job. Yessir.”
