Maddow Mocks Lack Of GOP ‘Potency’

If you believe in the pendulum theory of politics, one sign that the clock has struck midnight and might not be far away from heading toward dawn [to mix a few metaphors], is when the party in power engages in an excess of triumphalism.

When ruling party members or their media claque do the political equivalent of singing “na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey: goodbye!” followed by a rousing chorus of “We Are The Champions,” there’s reason to think their power might just have crested.

Rachel Maddow gave a perfect example of the phenomenon on her show last night.  The MSNBC host absolutely reveled in how Republicans are “powerless” and lack “potency.”  For good measure, she mocked the fact that the only election Republicans can seemingly win are ones like yesterday’s RNC Chairman vote in which the only candidates are GOP members.  Putting a caustic cherry on her sarcastic cake, Maddow also indulged a good laugh at Republican expense for having chosen an African-American to lead the party.

This is the winter of Republican discontent.  But by dancing on the GOP graves, Maddow and her MSM cohorts may unwittingly be prompting a Republican Spring to begin a bit sooner than expected.

2009-01-31msnbcrmmaddow2Note: Maddow is every bit the lefty partisan as Keith Olbermann.  But she does have a sense of humor, in contrast with her pompous MSNBC colleague.  Rachel ran a segment casting the RNC election as a horserace, and it was nicely done, right down to Maddow in one of those silly Kentucky Derby hats ripping up her betting tickets in disgust.  You’ll see a brief excerpt in the video clip.

Mark, you’re amazing! To actually compliment Maddow for having “nicely done” something is IMO more than she deserves. You’re a better man than I.

This gloating buy many on the left is like nothing I’ve seen in any election in my lifetime. Even Obama said, “I won.”

Now, the idea that they might have crested?? I wish I possessed that kind of optimism.

I am, however, very glad to see Michael Steele elected as GOP Chairman and I’m hopeful that he can rally the troops.

Because she’s got a sense of humor, I find watching Maddow tolerable, which is more than I can say for Olbermann!

    What an immature witch.

I don’t know how you can stand to listen to her Mark, at least it was only about two minutes of torture.

She and all of their ilk had better be careful with their obvious arrogance of late…it may come back to bite them…

    Big Time!

Agreed: this kind of end-zone dance is going to get them an unsportsmanlike penalty from the American electorate.

No class, they are poor looser and winners. This is what will propel them back to the minority. Americans hates pompous jerks, and the left is the poster child.

Laugh it up while you can, Rachel. Once Americans wake up from their post-election hangover and start figuring out what Obama is really all about, we’ll see how many of you lefties are dancing with glee, say, two years hence.

She disturbs me more with every clip. Worse than Olberman. They remind me of the pretentious popular kids in high school that ended up serving me burgers during my hour long lunch break on my 5-day 9 to 5.
