‘Judd Say No’: Rachel Rips Obama’s Gregg Pick

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.
If you watch the video, you’ll see all the reasons, as expressed on her MSNBC show tonight, that Rachel Maddow doesn’t like Judd Gregg as Secretary of Commerce:

  • He’s a Republican
  • He won’t be replaced by a Dem senator from New Hampshire
  • One of his staffers is caught up in the Abramoff mess
  • He proposed abolishing the Department of Commerce
  • Did I mention he’s a Republican?

OK. Fine. Good.  But all those kvetches are ultimately criticisms not of Gregg, but of . . . Barack Obama.

I mean, it’s not as if Republican senators have a great track record of successfully lobbying for cabinet appointments in Dem administrations.  Gregg was presumably sitting there minding his own business when Pres. Obama came along and offered him the slot.  Combine Maddow’s displeasure at the Gregg pick with Chris Matthews’ concerns about Obama’s soul, and you have two members of MSNBC’s liberal line-up expressing misgivings about the Messiah-in-Chief.  What’s next: Olbermann calling O a conservative sell-out?

This could be fun.

Yeah, but I bet Gregg paid his federal income taxes.

It’s like the concept of “hate the sin, love the sinner” when it comes to Obama’s actions. Except they’re not explicitly hating the sin… Common sense isn’t, neither is friendly fire.
