CNBCer Vouches For Stimulus: ‘The Wheels Of Commerce Will Start To Turn Again’

Yesterday, The Cable Game blog speculated that GE CEO Jeff Immelt might be trading positive coverage of the Obama administration on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC for financial goodies like the $139 billion debt guarantee that the federal government has extended to GE Capital [h/t TS]. This morning, we saw an example of the kind of coverage The Cable Game presumably had in mind. Appearing on Today, Carl Quintanilla of CNBC essentially vouched for the Obama stimulus bill, claiming that if passed, “the wheels of commerce will start to turn again.”

AMY ROBACH: The Senate is close to passing the stimulus bill. Does that stop the bleeding?

CARL QUINTANILLA: I think it’s going to help.  Most people think it’s going to help.  The economy is like a sponge.  It will soak up all of this new money, but it’s going to take a lot more time than people expect. But eventually you will get that construction worker hired, he’ll feel better about buying clothes for his kids, taking trips with his family, and the wheels of commerce will start to turn again.

Note the perfect pro-Obama construction of Quintanilla’s comment:  it’s going to take more time than people expect, but it will eventually work.  So when the turn-around comes, no matter how far in the future, the credit goes to Pres. Obama!

Send me $49.99, and I’ll email you instructions for my secret Warm Weather Dance.  It might take longer than you expect, but the warm weather will eventually arrive: guaranteed!

Actually, if this fraudulent bill is passed, the “wheels of commerce” are likely to come completely off.

This is nothing less that a out-and-out raid on the federal treasury. Our money is being stolen from right under our very noses to reward dem supporters and to purchase their votes in the future. The idea that this is going to “stimulate” our ailing economy is an outright lie.

The only thing this lunacy is going to stimulate is my blood pressure.

$49.99 for a Warm Weather Dance the will eventually work? ROFL!

    LOL-Mark, that needed a spew alert. :-)
