Geithner ‘Soiled The Bed’

Pres. Obama might have his ardent admirers, but his Treasury Secretary’s performance before the Senate yesterday has been universally panned. No one, though, is likely to outdo Dylan Ratigan when it comes to giving a scatological thumbs down to Tim Geithner’s tap dance.

Ratigan, of CNBC, was a guest on Morning Joe today.  Asked by Joe Scarborough to describe yesterday’s performance by Geithner, Dylan twice used the expression seen in the headline.  The screencap shows Mika Brzezinski’s mortified reaction to her guest’s earthy choice of words. Ratigan can’t be accused of springing an unwelcome surprise on his hosts, since as you’ll see from the transcript, Joe expressly invited Dylan to repeat what he had earlier said off-air.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Give us a performance review, and say on-air what you told us.

DYLAN RATIGAN: How long is the [tape] delay?

Mika tried to warn Ratigan off.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Dylan, Dylan, Dylan. People are just waking up.  Let’s ease us into the . . .

Scarborough wouldn’t be dissuaded from pursuing his line of questioning.

SCARBOROUGH: How did the Treasury Secretary do in assuring the markets yesterday?

RATIGAN: [long sigh] He soiled the bed.

BRZEZINSKI: Oh! Dylan! That’s just not –

RATIGAN: He did.  And that’s not to say that it’s not a good plan, potentially. That it doesn’t have good elements.  But here’s where he soiled the bed.

UNIDENTIFIED: He said it twice now.

SCARBOROUGH: He did say it twice.

Only good days ahead for your blog Mark.

If you keep watching MSNBC you’ll never run out of material. Those guys/gals have unplumbed depths of great material. Funny, only Joe seems to know how ‘in the tank’ the network really is.

Joe just smiles, takes his huge paycheck and knows in his heart of hearts what a bunch of moonbats he works with.

Keep up the good work. I’ve been following your efforts for quite some time now (via Newsbusters) and continue to be rewarded with great stuff and many laughs.

I’m glad you’ve got your own blog space.

Many thanks, Chuck. You’re right: MSNBC is an absolute gold mine. It’s kind of ironic: I rarely watch Fox News nowadays because I’m always on the lookout for grist for the mill!

Glad to hear you’re enjoying FinkelBlog. It’s been an adventure!

    Too funny.

Actually, Geithner did more than merely soil the bed.

This man, who apparently cannot navigate his way through our tax code, was billed as the only guy in America who could save us from economic Armageddon.

The left was so strident in this assertion that his confirmation sailed through without so much as a raised eyebrow on the part of the republicans.

However, his first public pronouncement on the subject foremost on the minds of Americans sends the stock market plunging to a near 400 point slide.

    Yeah, I’m impressed. :-^)

Is it just me, or does the Obama administration look more and more as if it were the 21st Century version of the Keystone Cops?
