MATT LAUER: The president has talked a lot about transparency in government and transparency with government officials. In your opinion, does Roland Burris meet the threshold for transparency that the president wants to see?
ROBERT GIBBS: Well Matt, what I talked about here just last week was, obviously many of the representations that Senator Burris made in order to get into office have now proved to be true [sic]. I think he has to spend some time thinking about his future and make a determination about what’s best for Illinois –
LAUER: Have proved to be true or untrue?
GIBBS: That the representations he made have proved to be untrue. I’m sorry if I said that wrong. That Senator Burris needs to take some time and think whether he can actually help this country, whether he can serve the people of Illinois.
Gibbs proceeded to put in the dagger . . . .
LAUER: Can he survive?
GIBBS: That’s a question for him and I hope he’ll do some real thinking about that.
Ouch. Short of having “Burris Must Go!” stenciled on his forehead, Gibbs couldn’t have been much more explicit. Pres. Obama wants Burris gone. Compare and contrast the explicit expression of the president’s 100% confidence in Tim Geithner that Gibbs offered [see video] just before turning to [on] Burris. In an earlier segment, Lauer had actually mentioned to Jim Cramer that he had heard rumblings of people calling for Geithner to go.
So will Burris take what wasn’t just a hint, but really, a very loud shout–and get out?

In my view of the Burris soapy, I am starting to wonder if he wasn’t set-up by the behind the scenes dems, as Reid and others (from orders from the O-Team) were getting pressured to go ahead and seat him, as he was winning the war in the press, and racism was starting to be used on different networks towards Reid and a few of the other dems…which I thought was hilarious for a change.
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t for a minute think he was anymore ethical than Reid, Blago, Durbin the whole mess of the Chicago Machine, including O who had nothing but a complete pass from day One…remember, Durbin didn’t want him seated either from the beginning, then he changed his mind after all the negative press that was starting to gather steam…so they reluctantly seated him, having a back-up plan how to get rid of him on down the road, while looking like they had clean hands…the “I Know Nothing” scenario.
Personally, I hope Burris hangs in there and continues to be a burr under the dem big-wigs saddle, especially Rahm and O.
bt,
“Personally, I hope Burris hangs in there and continues to be a burr under the dem big-wigs saddle, especially Rahm and O.”
So do I. I find it not a little hypocritical on the part of the “transparent” Obamanistas that Timmy Turbo Tax gets to stay (for now) but Burris must resign immediately.
Something smells here.
As for Gibbs, I bet he is gone before the first hole is played at The Masters.

Dave…
I think Gibbs will be there for a long time…he ain’t going anywhere anytime soon in my opinon…he is very tied to the machine, he knows what he is doing…every step…and the msm plays right into it…some of them, know him well and have for years IMO…and are all for him staying put.
Just my opinion, sure could be wrong, have been lots of times before…jsut my two cents for the time being…
One thing about it, time will tell…
Let the soapy continue, since we have no choice.
