Give Dick Durbin The Profile In Cowardice Award . . .
Durbin, the second-ranking Dem in the Senate, admitted today that his party backed off its attempt to refuse to seat Roland Burris when Rep. Bobby Rush, a former Black Panther, broke out the race card. From the Chicago Tribune:
“My colleague from Illinois, Congressman Bobby Rush, made strong statements along those lines . . . They were painful and hurtful, and it became part of this calculation.”
Durbin & Co. got rolled by Rush making the absurd analogy between today’s Senate and the likes of Bull Connor, George Wallace and Orville Faubus. You can view Rush’s barely coherent statement here.
How can we expect Durbin and his ilk to stand up to our enemies if they get intimidated by the likes of Bobby Rush?

One Comment
Senator Turban is, like most of his dem colleagues, a boneless chicken.
I said the moment Harry Reid asserted they weren’t going to seat Burris that the race card would be coming out and, once thrown down, the dems would cave.
What is more, I’ll predict right now that, barring some sort of major criminal indictment, Burris will be around for the next election, and will probably keep his seat.
He seems to think so, too:
