David Shuster, Hypocrite: 100% Of ‘Hypocrisy Watch’ Targets Are Republicans

shuster1600Update: a reader has written to say Shuster accused Pres. Obama of hypocrisy for accepting earmarks in the budget bill despite campaigning against them. We’ll try to track it down.  Assuming it’s so, that would still leave a very lopsided GOP-Dem hypocrisy ratio on Shuster’s show.

There are no Democratic hypocrites in the world. At least, if you believe David Shuster . . .

The smart new producer [who, uh-oh, interned at MSNBC this past summer!] of my TV show, Right Angle, tells me I need to introduce regular segments into every show: give viewers something they can look forward to and depend on. Looks like David Shuster has taken that idea to heart. He has a regular feature on his 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue show called “Hypocrisy Watch.”  As you can guess, Shuster skewers politicians and pundits for their hypocrisy.

Fine. Good idea. But shouldn’t there be some balance? Apparently not, in Mundo Shuster. Here are the targets of “Hypocrisy Watch” over the last 10 shows:

Feb. 25: Bobby Jindal – Republican
Feb. 26: Mitch McConnell – Republican
Feb. 27: Lindsey Graham – Republican
March 2: Bobby Jindal [again!] – Republican
March 3: Rush Limbaugh – Republican/conservative
March 4: John Boehner – Republican
March 5: John Kyl – Republican
March 6: Karl Rove – Republican
March 9: Karl Rove [again!] – Republican
March 10 – guest host, no “Hypocrisy Watch”
March 11- David Vitter – Republican

Do we detect a pattern here?

Don’t tell me there are no hypocritical Democrats. Heck, I found two just today: John Kerry and Barack Obama.

For Shuster to make only Republicans his targets is hypocritical, and, as he likes to end the segment . . . it’s wrong.

UPDATE: Over at Media Research Center, Rich Noyes and Scott Whitlock conducted a comprehensive analysis of Hypocrisy Watch, monitoring 48 segments.   Turns out Shuster did manage to target . . . four Democrats along the way.  Of course this might all be of historic interest only, as Shuster has since lost his show to Ed Schultz, who will surely find some new and innovative ways to bring liberal bias to his show on a daily basis!

He’ll drop in some virtually unknown Dem with a safe seat and call it balanced.

To a lib, balanced is 10 Republicans to 1 Democrat hypocrit.

To a lib, 1 Republican with 3 Democrats on a talk panel is balanced.

To a lib, Fox News means Republicans dominate the MSM.

To a lib, a conservative radio talk show host on AM radio is an unfair advantage for Republicans.
