Early Show Highlights Republican Royal Gaffes

With Pres. Obama about to meet Queen Elizabeth, the Early Show decided to focus on gaffes various past presidents have committed when encountering Her Majesty. Surprise! All the socially maladroit moves mentioned were by Republicans.

Katie Couric sniped from London  . . .

KATIE COURIC: She’s met with every president since Harry Truman and many of them by the way have committed a few faux pas along the way.  The first President Bush apparently sat before Queen Elizabeth, which was a real no-no. But my favorite story was at a state dinner during the Ford administration.  When the Queen started to dance the Marine band started playing “That’s Why The Lady Is A Tramp.” So you really have to watch your p’s and q’s.

Back in New York, Harry Smith piled on with yet another tale of a royal GOP no-no.

HARRY SMITH: You had a great piece on the Evening News last night about all those meetings with the president.  And of course, seeing George Bush 43 winking at Queen Elizabeth might have been a highlight as well.

COURIC: Yeah, apparently she really wasn’t digging that.

MAGGIE RODRIGUEZ: That’s exactly what she said: “I ain’t digging that.”

Look, maybe it’s true no Democrat ever blotted his copy book at Buckingham Palace–although I find it hard to believe Bill Clinton was never caught sneaking a peek down Princess Di’s décolletage.

But there is the other side of the ledger.  Maybe Republicans do have the monopoly on gaffes. But on the positive side, the Today show had the fair-n-balanced instinct to report that of all US presidents, Ronald Reagan reportedly hit it off the best with the Queen. No mention of that at the Early Show, which accentuated only the Republican negative.

And talk about no class, all A$$, he gave the Queen an iPOD for a gift!
    Good grief!!

Well his Secretary of State set the “stupid” bar kind of high last week in Mexico. She laid flowers in front of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe and asked “Who painted it?” (the image miraculously appeared inside the cloak of St. Juan Diego, to whom she appeared).
Of course, that tale didn’t make the media rounds, did it?

    Darn mb…

You beat me to it…that is exactly what I was going to post.

A time difference thing with us …lol.

I couldn’t stand to watch this sickening ooohing and aaahing anymore this morning from the msm….and of course according to the likes of Katie Cupcake and Milquetoast Harry only… and I do mean only repubs ever make gaffes when it comes to the Queen.

I just wonder what she would ever really say about all of this if she could?

I have a few ideas it wouldn’t be as the leftist pin-heads in the msm would like to hear.

Perky Katie is enough to almost cause me to wish for the federal government to takeover CBS.

If slobbering Bawney’s wage restriction bill should somehow pass (and I believe it will) then Katie would soon be earning what she is worth:

    $250/mo.
