Matthews: Bush A ‘Bozo’, Scooter A ‘Henchman’

Somebody take Chris Matthews’ temperature.  He might be showing symptoms of a particularly virulent strain of swine flu . . .

On this evening’s Hardball, Matthews referred to former Pres. Bush as a “bozo,” and called Scooter Libby a “henchman.”

The clownish comment came in the context of an invidious comparison of W’s handling of Hurricane Katrina with PBO’s response to the swine flu epidemic.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Leading off tonight, smart people in charge.  What’s the difference with how this president’s handling the swine fu, swine flu outbreak, and the way that other president handled–is that the right word for it?–the flooding of New Orleans.

A bit later, rolling tape of Pres. Bush declaring that FEMA Director was doing “a heck of a job” . . .

MATTHEWS: Of course that made the President of the United States look like a bozo.

A subsequent segment focused on allegations that enhanced interrogation techniques were allegedly used for, among other purposes, attempting to elicit admissions of a link between Iraq and 9/11.

MATTHEWS: And how many times did the former Vice-President, Dick Cheney, and his aide-de-camp, his henchman Scooter Libby, go over to the CIA with one purpose: to make the case we had to go to war with Iraq?

Someone get Chris a shot of Tamiflu.

I wonder what Matthew’s reaction would have been if our POTUS were a republican and headed off to the golf course yesterday like Obama did.

I bet Chrissy and his fellow MSM propagandists would have had a collective cow.

The now blatant double standard on the part of the MSM is becoming a danger to innocent (and possibly to uninfected) Americans.

Dave, I thought the same thing when I read the golf story (I also thought: why wasn’t he in CHURCH?)

Anyone who dared to criticize The Obama for that would have taken an on-air tongue-lashing from Matthews and called an unpatriotic traitor!

Henchman? Can you say Rahm Emanuel????

This is one of the main reasons I don’t watch Matthews. Not just the bias; he talks like a ninth-grader. He seriously needs to grow up.

And when is Chrissie going to air that clip of Chuckie Schumer boasting “it’s all gone!” about removing the pandemic funding from the stimulus bill?

Not that it would have prevented the swine flu from appearing, but you know if it had been a Republican, Chrissie would be playing it and claiming that “this is why were are now facing a crisis!”

    motherbelt,

I don’t know what happened to Matthews. He used to be a decent TV host, and Hardball was a pretty decent show. I read a couple of his books, and thought they were pretty balanced.

Somewhere along the way he blew something out, because now he is the partisan hack from hell.

Dave, my guess is that Matthews has been motivated by personal career expediency. He knows that MSNBC has made a conscious decision to appeal to a liberal audience, and wants to remain on the train.
