With CNN’s Sanjay Gupta having taken himself out of the running, could NBC’s Dr. Nancy Snyderman be positioning herself to be named Surgeon General in the Obama administration?

Seriously. I ask because given the chance to question Janet Napolitano today, Snyderman, NBC’s chief medical editor, prefaced her inquiry with glowing praise for the Director of Homeland Security and the Obama admin at large.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Dr. Nancy Snyderman, do you have a question?

NANCY SNYDERMAN: Yes sir.  I watched the Secretary yesterday during the press conference and I have to laud her.  I thought it was a brilliant effort on the part of the government to bring scientists and the Homeland Security Secretary together to really talk openly about borders and what people should do.

Nice, audition, Nancy!  As I noted here, Snyderman has already demonstrated her Obama street cred when it comes to promoting national health insurance and the rationing of health care.

Come to think of it, you might call the doc’s performance casting pearls before swine . . . flu.

And exactly what came up when they talked openly about borders?

I’m guessing increased security wasn’t on the list….

Wow, that kind of kissing up to Janet Reno II could be, ah, dangerous.

Speaking of Napolitano, she seems rather reluctant to name the apparent country of origin for the outbreak of swine flu.

I wonder if that is an any way connected to the ACORN nuts who will soon be fanning out across America for the 2010 census, as well as voter registration drives for the 2010 mid-term election?
