Attempted Ford Assassin: ‘I’m Going To Go To The Obama Thing’

Planning to attend a fundraiser for the president?  Don’t think so.  Still, more than passing strange . . .

Sara Jane Moore, who in 1975 attempted to assassinate then President Gerald Ford, is out on parole after serving 32 years in prison. Asked by Matt Lauer on Today this morning what she would say to people who think that an attempted presidential assassin should spent the rest of her life in jail, Moore began with this cryptic remark:

“Well, I’m going to go to the Obama thing.”

She went on to argue that under our constitutional system, our laws must apply to all, including those who might be deeply disliked.

But just what did she mean about “the Obama thing”? I wish Matt had asked. In any case, the woman who as a far-left radical attempted to assassinate one president of the United States is apparently a fan of President Obama’s legal philosophy.   Might PBO recruit her to lobby on behalf of Sonia Sotomayor?

Here was the exchange.

MATT LAUER: And to people who say, briefly if you can, Ms. Moore, someone who attempts to assassinate a President of the United States should never see the light of day again, how do you respond?

SARA JANE MOORE: Well, I’m going to go to the Obama thing. We have a Constitution in this country, and we have laws.  And those laws are not just, everybody thinks they’re for me, but she, oh, we shouldn’t . . . We have laws, and regardless of who you are, there are conditions to be met for me to be paroled.  I met those conditions. If you have a country of law, if you have a Constitution, it has to apply to everybody, not just to people you like.

LAUER: Even for someone who broke the law at one point.

MOORE: Yes!  I broke the law. The law said put her in prison. They put me in prison.  The law said after this if she fulfills these conditions, let her out.  You know, if people object to that, write to your congressman and ask that the law be changed.

Perhaps he should. Moore at least mentions the Constitution in her interview, unlike Sotomayer when they announced her nomination.

    This woman is nuts.

Does she really think the feds are going to let her anywhere near Obama?

I bet the feds can tell you what she had for breakfast.
