Capehart’s Advice To GOP: Skip Generation, Wait For Meghan McCain

Early clubhouse leader for worst political advice of the year . . .

Jonathan Capehart has suggested that Republicans would be well-advised to skip a generation and wait for the Meghan McCains of the world to assume the GOP’s mantle of leadership. The WaPo editorial writer made his smirk-worthy suggestion on MSNBC this afternoon while chewing over Mark Sanford’s stunning announcement.

The panel had literally and figuratively run down the list of Republican presidential hopefuls and found virtually all of them wanting.  Capehart’s brainstorm came in response to a leading question from host Tamron Hall, who touted the younger McCain’s wisdom.

TAMRON HALL: We’ve seen a lot of young Republicans, Meghan McCain and some others, who’ve come out and said listen, this party has to modernize, they can no longer turn their backs on gays and tout family values as the way in. And here again the family values argument gets a slap in the face by someone who is quoting the Bible and asking folks for forgiveness. Does this drive home what some of these young Republicans are talking about, that it needs to be about policy and not what’s happening in your private life?

JONATHAN CAPEHART:  Right, I think what this now latest revelation shows is that maybe what the Republican party is going to have to do is skip a generation and wait for the Meghan McCains to come of age so that they can run for office and take over the mantle of the party.

Excuse me, Tamron, but it’s the Democrats who always make Republican standards about their private lives, and the Republicans fall for it every time. That’s why the Democrats are so good at standing up for their own guys with personal failings, and forcing Republicans to push their sinners out.
And what the hell was Sanford thinking, answering those personal questions about the affair in public?
    Talk about classless! Good grief!!

At least, thank God, his wife wasn’t standing beside him, like Mrs. Spitzer!

Tamron has went more and more to the left the longer she has stayed at msnbc…at least she now has lowered her volume when speaking….plus she will most likely get a raise soon.

I can’t listen to either of these people most of the time anymore…along with all of the cartoon characters on msnbc.
