Obama Approval Nosedives

obama-sadT.S. Eliot might have to go back to the drawing board.  April might not be the cruelest month after all.  At least for Barack Obama, some combination of June and July is shaping up as the 30 days he’d like to forget.

Check out the chart after the jump, which shows the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll.  You’ll note that just one month ago on, July 8, PBO was enjoying a +8 positive rating, meaning 36% of people strongly approved of him while only 28% strongly disapproved.  That has turned entirely around.  The latest data shows a -8% margin, with only 30% strongly approving versus 38% strongly disapproving.2009-07-09RasmussenObamapoll

So, readers, what do you think is the #1 issue accounting for PBO’s nosedive: continued weakness of economy, weak reaction to Iranian upheaval, failure to show up and do moonwalk at Jackson memorial service?  Let’s hear from you!

    Mark: There’s a lot more than just the Rasmussen poll to make your point:

    -Rasmussen’s trend is identical for Mr. Obama’s overall approval/disapproval numbers. The day after his inauguration Rasmussen showed 65% approval and 30% disapproval. Now it is 51% – 48%

    -Gallup, which has consistently shown Mr. Obama’s approval ratings to be much higher than Rasmussen’s, is at the lowest level since he became President. Currently it is at 56% approve, 36% disapprove. A week ago it was 62%-31%;

    -The latest Quinnipiac poll in the bellwether state of Ohio shows that, in the past two months, Mr. Obama has dropped from 62% approval to 49%.

    -Public Policy Polling in another key state, Virginia, shows Mr. Obama down to just 48%.

    Personally I do not believe in political polls (this is over 40 years or market research talking) because I don’t trust people to answer honestly about politics and I know too many ways that data can be distorted (some of which occur unintentionally, some intentionally). But I do place some stock in differences within the same poll from wave to wave (because whatever might be wrong with the poll is a constant each time).

    But if these data are correct, and unemployment continues into double digits (as even the Obama people seem to think it will), then you are likely to see his poll numbers continue shrinking.

    It’s the economy, as that is the only thing the sheeple pay any real attention to, and then only if it affects them personally.

    As for Obama diminishing and weakening America, the sheeple won’t notice until the shooting starts.

    Now, as for Obama failing to show up and moonwalk at MJ’s funeral, I’m surprised that didn’t start a riot.
